Metlink’s role is to plan, develop, promote and deliver public transport services and supporting infrastructure in the Wellington region. Improvements to the public transport system have been ongoing and sustained. Against a backdrop of dedicated ongoing development of the network, Metlink continues to implement and optimise performance and customer experience, through robust governance, better stakeholder engagement, and increased capability and capacity.

What You’ll Do:
- Lead Strategic Commercial Insights – Quantify costs, benefits, and risks associated with key contracts. Develop business cases and financial models to support new technology and infrastructure investments.
- Drive Financial Sustainability – Identify cost-saving opportunities, enhance contract performance monitoring, and improve financial transparency across the business.
- Provide Data-Driven Decision Making – Develop revenue and cost models to ensure effective pricing, subsidy analysis, and long-term financial planning.
- Support Strategic Decision Making – Contribute to reports to Councillors on key issues and opportunities related to Metlink commercial and contractual relationships.
- Collaborate with Key Stakeholders – Build strong relationships with transport operators, regulatory agencies, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless contract execution.
- Champion Sustainable Resource Management – Promote efficient resource use and ensure best practices in contract management.
What You’ll Bring:
- Proven Experience – Strong background in performance reporting, cost modelling, financial analysis, and contract management within a complex commercial environment.
- Sharp Analytical Mind – Strong problem-solving skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex data.
- Strong Communication Skills – the ability to use plain English, present your findings in a clear and easily understood manner, being cognisant of your audience.
- Advanced Excel & Analytics Skills – Expertise in financial modelling and business analytics applications
- Tertiary Qualification – Preferably in commercial, financial, or a related discipline.
- Transport & Infrastructure Knowledge (Advantageous) – Background in transport, infrastructure investment, or commercial contracts is a plus.
