Are you an experienced learning design leader ready to make a real impact? The Institute of Directors (IoD) is seeking a strategic and innovative individual to drive the creation of high-quality, engaging, and commercially sustainable governance education. This is a rare opportunity to influence how New Zealand’s directors and governance professionals learn and develop, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to lead with confidence.

IoD’s superior educational offerings are critical to ensuring New Zealand directors have the skills and knowledge they need to govern effectively. In this role, you will lead the learning design and development team, working closely with facilitators, subject matter experts, internal and external partners to develop best-in-class governance education, tools and resources. You will oversee the design and delivery of learning solutions that range from in-person workshops and immersive experiences to blended and fully digital programmes, and practical tools and resources for boards. Your ability to think strategically, identify emerging learning needs, and translate them into innovative education offerings will be key to success.

Quality will be at the heart of everything you do. You will implement a rigorous quality assurance framework to ensure all learning products are engaging, relevant, and aligned with best-practice governance standards. You will also play a critical role in maintaining IoD’s reputation as a trusted leader in governance education, ensuring programmes are up to date, commercially viable, and responsive to the evolving needs of directors.

  • A strategic and customer-centric mindset with a commercial background, and ability to future think and innovate.
  • Experience leading teams and making significant contribution as a senior leader.
  • Experience in a governance role would be highly advantageous.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of IoD’s renowned learning portfolio while ensuring IoD’s long-term financial sustainability.
