This is a key role within Summerset that advises and supports the Executive and Management with ongoing development and implementation of the organisation’s health and safety strategy, plans and framework as well as working with staff and managers across the organisation to develop a strong and effective safety culture and practices.
The company runs a broad, multi-faceted business model, at the heart of which are their village and care residents. Ideally you will have experience in the aged healthcare, construction (commercial & residential) and corporate environments with the ability to manage the differing and unique risks of those diverse environments. As a highly qualified leader in this discipline, a key responsibility is driving and embedding the effective implementation of initiatives and activities that result in tangible tactical and operational outcomes tailored appropriately to each part of the business.
The company has significant, nationwide building programmes underway and planned for the foreseeable future, which when completed become the independent living residences, serviced apartments and care centre facilities for residents. Accordingly, having a strong background in either the broader construction or the aged health care sectors, or both, is viewed as an imperative.
With significant organisational growth being a constant, your ability to build collaborative teams and lead the enhancement of health & safety culture and the development of health & safety leadership capability will be one of the keys to your success in the role.
It is expected you will have a proven background developing and successfully implementing Health & Safety strategy and plans, along with a depth of experience in the broad “technical” aspects of the role, including management of risk, standards, compliance, incident management/reporting, auditing, benchmarking and the development of programmes that minimise & manage risk while enhancing the organisation wide H&S culture and the health, wellbeing and safety of residents, employees and contractors.
Confidence interacting at Executive and Board levels is expected, as is the ability to influence all manner of internal and external stakeholders to agreed actions and outcomes.
The health and wellbeing of their residents and staff is important to Summerset and for this reason, they require all their employees to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before commencing work at Summerset.
